Southern Ute tribal departments hosted the “End of School Year Bash” for all students, their families and friends, at the Piinu Nuuchi Skatepark, Saturday, May 21. SunUte Front Desk attendant Margaret Manzanares seems pleased with her cotton candy creation, while SunUte Recreation Coordinator, Bird Red and Southern Ute Museum Director, Susan Cimburek handle snowcone duties.

Southern Ute Chairman Leonard C. Burch holds the plaque and certificate he was awarded – the Durango Community Citizen Award in 1997. Burch also received the 15th Annual Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award (2000) and the Council of Energy Resource Tribes’ Achievement Award (2002).
