Sisters, Velma Armijo and Cathleen “Cookie” Cajero serve bowls of stew to Bear Dance attendees on the final day of the celebration held Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25. The pair were asked by the Bear Dance Chief, Matthew Box, to make and serve the feast for this year’s event.
Southern Ute Tribal Council member, Marge Barry, serves up fresh oven bread to dancers and visitors on Monday morning at the Bear Dance Feast. Adjacent to the corral, volunteers serve up stew, bread, corn, and fresh fruit to all.

Cultural Preservation Department alongside Armijo and her family, worked diligently to provide a nutritional, traditional meal for all who attended the Bear Dance celebration.
