The Southern Ute Tribe’s Division of Social Services sponsored the first ever Father’s Day Concert in the Park, Thursday, June 15 at the Southern Ute Multi-Purpose Facility’s Park. The Father’s Day event celebrated fatherhood with music, food, and fun. The event hosted food vendors – Jemez Foods, Sweet Peas, and Rez Girls Catering, and face painting by Social Services staff. The concert brought in musicians of varying genres, including Irv Wauneka, Billy Crawley II and the Good Ole’ Boys and Escape the Badlands. Southern Ute Tribal Chairman, Melvin Baker read the official proclamation designating June 18 as Native American Responsible Fatherhood Day, which was approved and adopted by Tribal Council on June 14, 2016.
