Obituary: Raymond “Greenman” Frost Jr.

FROST – Raymond (Greenman) Frost Jr. (61) died Friday, Dec. 22, 2023. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Raymond Frost Jr. was born Oct. 15, 1962 to Raymond Frost Sr. and Mary Ellen in Durango, CO.

Raymond graduated from Ignacio High School and was an enrolled member to the Southern Ute Tribe. Raymond joined the Air Force after high school. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base San Antonio, Texas, then Chanute Airforce Base Rantoul, Illinois and then finally in Kadena Airforce Base Okinawa, Japan.

Raymond was a Sundancer. He loved hunting, fishing and just loved being outdoors, he also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and San Antonio Spurs fan. Throughout his life he worked in different departments for the Southern Ute Tribe. He had a wonderful and teasing sense of humor. Raymond was a fun, loving, free spirit, whose joy came through with a big laugh and a quick playful comment.

Mr. Frost is survived by his wife Gloria Frost; children: Niko Frost & Max Frost, Snowbird Frost, and Springwind Frost, Faith Frost; stepchildren: Geneva Gomez (Kenneth), Derrick Watts (Leigh), Marietta Watts-Soto (Abel), all of Ignacio, CO; siblings: Lena Melrose, Raxanne Frost, Emett Frost, Heather Frost, Rodney Red, Robert Jack and Glen Frost all of Ignacio, CO; Yvonne Phillips of Houston, TX; Conrad Kingstey and Carl Hamlen, both of Towaco, CO; adopted brother and sister: Stan Little Boy and Jonie Bull Bear of Porcupine, SD; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and enrolled family members.

Raymond is preceded in death by his mother Mary Ellen Washington; sisters: Audrey Frost, Jeanette Frost, Marion Frost, Bernendene Frost; brothers: Dale Frost and Nathaniel Jack and niece Samantha Rock.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023 at the Southern Ute Memorial Chapel in Ignacio. Burial to follow at La Boca Cemetery.
