Durango to Silverton by rail

Alyas Maez, Adonis Maez, Zedaya Maez, and Belicia Maez sit aboard the scenic round-trip Durango to Silverton all day color ride on Saturday, Aug. 26. Tribal families departed from the Durango Deport to Silverton, riding along the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad exploring historic sites, shops, restaurants, overlooking the Animas River and viewing the mountains as well as the fall foliage.
Wahleah Frost enjoys the mountain views along the train ride from Durango to Silverton, tribal families take a step back in time as they journey 45 miles through the San Juan Mountains by rail.

Tribal members and their families board the Durango to Silverton all day color ride sponsored by Tribal Information Services – Saturday, Aug. 26 departing from the Durango Depot to Silverton. Tribal Information Services provided 50 tickets to tribal families, giving them a chance to enjoy a scenic round trip to the historic mining town. Families rode three hours to Silverton with a two-hour layover to explore historic sights, curio shops, and numerous restaurants
