It was part of a week-long series of activities entitled “Beads, Looms and Feathers.” Pictured is Tim Ryder and Victor (Bear) Frost explaining to participants how to make mini drums.

Many Moons 10:
Chris Olguin, bison manager for the Southern Ute Wildlife Resource Management Division, reflects fondly on the history of the Tribe’s buffalo herd, recalling stories of Rolling Thunder, the first bull bison born on the reservation, which passed away in the spring of 1999. The Tribe currently manages a small population of adult bison numbering in the 30s. The herd resides southeast of Ignacio on tribal land. Los Pinos Spring Classic Softball Tournament

30 Years Ago: The Southern Ute Youth Group proudly displays their first place blue ribbon they won at the Cultural Heritage Festival in Farmington on Oct. 9 and 10. The members who participated were L-R: Sheila Ryder, Eddie Box Jr., Betty Box, Benito Casias, JoGenia Red and in front Sarah Hudson. Other youth group members not pictured were Joe Mayokok, Bertha Box, Snow Bird Box, and Eddie Box Sr. Part of the group who did not participate were Sadie Frost, Theodosha Frost, Rhonda Frost, Toniette Baca.
