NOW OR NEVER: Harriers up for regionals Quintana, deKay hasten pace in Monte Vista

Ignacio’s Lexy Young (8) runs alongside Dolores’ Akira Edwards during Heat No. 4 of the girls’ 200-meter dash at the May 22, 2021, Pine River Invitational inside Bayfield’s Wolverine Country Stadium. Young would place seventh overall in 30.70 seconds; included in the same heat, Montezuma-Cortez's Avery Wright won the event in 28.44.

Thinclads put forth best effort at the PRI

Senior Charlize Valdez (533) leads Rye’s Clarissa Peterson (534) and La Jara Centauri’s Austyn Shawcroft (528) around a bend in the Norris-Penrose Event Center course during the 2020 CHSAA Class 2A State Championships in Colorado Springs. Again a front-runner for SJBL Girls’ Runner-of-the-Year, Valdez was recently named All-SJBL as well as First Team Academic All-State.

Lady ‘Cats cop fifth at Southwest Classic

Ignacio Lady Bobcats Charlize Valdez (38) and Maci Barnes (32) run in tandem during the early stages of the 2nd Annual Boggy Draw Bear Chase Friday evening, Aug. 21.  Barnes, a newcomer to the program, would place a team-best sixth overall; Valdez, the race’s defending champion, would finish 14th.
