Ignacio senior Eppie Quintana (116) was IHS' sole qualifier for the 2022 CHSAA Cross-Country State Championships, held Saturday, Oct. 29, at Norris-Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. A two-time State qualifier, he clocked a time of 18 minutes, 36.3 seconds in the Class 2A Boys' race and placed 53rd.

SJBL harriers have hard go at Stampede

Ignacio senior Avaleena Nanaeto rounds a bend during the Four Corners Southwest Classic at Hillcrest Golf Course in Durango earlier this season. Despite not qualifying for a fourth CHSAA State Cross-Country Championships, she still placed top-25 at 2A-Region IV in Delta and earned Honorable Mention All-SJBL.

Bobcat boys take 12th at Stampede

Ignacio’s Laci Brunson (441) and Harmony Reynolds (446) ran in tandem for most of the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede Friday afternoon, Sept. 3, in Colorado Springs. Both had played varsity-level volleyball against Montezuma-Cortez inside IHS Gymnasium just the night before.

Mid-school harriers hit season running Boys boast winner at Bear Chase

Senior Charlize Valdez (533) leads Rye’s Clarissa Peterson (534) and La Jara Centauri’s Austyn Shawcroft (528) around a bend in the Norris-Penrose Event Center course during the 2020 CHSAA Class 2A State Championships in Colorado Springs. Again a front-runner for SJBL Girls’ Runner-of-the-Year, Valdez was recently named All-SJBL as well as First Team Academic All-State.
