Ute athletes go head-to-head once again

20 Years Ago: As part of the Kids Fair held at the Rolling Thunder Hall on February 14, 2002, Vince and Larry (the crash test dummies) took a break from the events and strolled over to the Southern Ute Indian Montessori Academy to pay a visit to the students. The Ignacio Lady Bobcats call one last pre-game meeting prior to tipoff Thursday evening, March 11, at Rocky Ford as part of the Class 2A State Tournament’s ‘Sweet 16’ phase. A 49-40 loss inside the MelonDome, however, ended IHS’ 2020-21 season.

30 Years Ago: Five students and a chaperone will be attending the Washington D.C. Workshop, March 3 – 10, 1990. The purpose of the workshop was to help students learn about the federal government, the judicial system and have the opportunity to learn what it takes to be in politics. Avaleena Nanaeto of Ignacio High School was named The Durango Herald’s Girls Underclassman of the Year for the 2018-2019 season. She qualified for state in cross-country and was also a key defensive stopper for her freshman season.
