Tribal leaders meet with Haaland

Tribal leadership from 14 tribes, including all three Ute Tribes, attended the Tribal Leader Forum. The group gathered to discuss tribal water rights along the Colorado River and the management of the river, Lake Powell, and Lake Mead. The lack of meaningful tribal consultation, both historically and present-day, remains a growing concern for Tribes.
Southern Ute Chairman Melvin Baker and Council Members, Lorelei Cloud and Vanessa Torres participated at a Tribal Leaders Forum with Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland in Albuquerque, N.M., Monday, March 28.
