Young tribal member, Ivan Joseph works hand in hand with his grandfather, Byron Frost to plant a variety of herbs in the spiral garden outside of the Southern Ute Tribal Health Center on campus, Thursday, June 2. The herb garden was originally created by Ivan’s mother, the late Deanna Frost, in 2016 with the with the hope of encouraging healthy eating and lifestyles within the community — made possible at the time through grant funding. The project was, and still is, a collaboration with Shining Mountain Health and Wellness. The Frost family will install a bronze plaque, in remembrance of Deanna Frost, and her commitment to community health and wellbeing.
