Quilting with care

Southern Ute elder Kathleen Hatch works meticulously on her quilting fabrics, bringing the colorful patterns to life, Tuesday, Feb. 14. She said she never made a quilt before now and welcomed the opportunity for the new experience - even bringing her materials home to work on the project between classes at the Southern Ute Multi-Purpose Facility.
Fabric bearing images of the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gets cut into equal squares for a quilting project.
Elders gather as often as possible to work and their quilting projects and socialize.
