The winners of the Denver March Powwow royalty were announced. Those crowned were Williamette “Pebbles” Thompson, Miss Denver March Powwow; Ronaldlyn Tiznado, Jr. Miss Denver March Powwow First Alternate; and Teresa Harlan, Jr. Miss Denver March Powwow. Ute leaders and members of the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs joined state legislators in Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s office for the signing of HB 13-1198 -an Act concerning the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs. These kids wore tired faces after a long week of swimming at the Ouray Hot Springs swimming pool. This trip was the end of the weeklong Spring Break activities held by the Southern Ute Library. Other field trips included an excursion to Mesa Verde, NAPI, skating in Farmington, N.M. and a visit to Salmon Ruins in Bloomfield, N.M.
