10 Years Ago – Lieutenant Governor, Barbara O’Brien (White Shawl at left) , Southern Ute Councilmen, Steve Herrera, Sr., (left-center) and Southern Ute Chairmen, Clement Frost (far right) enjoy the opening day Bear Dance in Towaoc, Colo. The opening day included the 300+ youth workers of the Bush Wackers Program. The Bush Wackers do community services in Towaoc, and range in ages 8-18, the youth get paid for their summer services.

40 Years Ago – Indian Dancers Tim Jefferson, Ben “Nighthorse” Campbell, and Rusty Box at the community center. The Southern Ute youth group presented an Indian Dance Program for visitors from Switzerland. This is the part of the summer tour program where Europeans get a taste of Indian dances and rodeo performances of the American West. Since the Colorado High School Finals were in progress in Durango, the group attended the Friday night performance after enjoying a Mexican Buffet and Indian Dancing. Next group to attend on July 8, 1978 with dinner, Indian dancing and a rodeo at Sky Ute Downs.
