Casino donates over $2000 to Head Start

The Sky Ute Casino Resort recently donated $2,360 to SUCAP’s Southern Ute Head Start and Early Head Start to help low-income families during the holidays.

General Manager of the casino Charley Flagg and General Manager Trainee Krista Red presented the check to Julie Goodman, Head Start family service coordinator on Friday, Dec. 16. The proceeds were raised from a slot tournament that was held at the casino on Saturday, Dec. 10. For the slot tournament participants were asked for a $20 entry fee or asked to give a gift of equal value. The casino then matched all cash entries arriving at a total of $2,360.

“It’s a stressful and expensive time of year,” Goodman said thanking the casino. “The families are always so thankful.”

The proceeds will go into the Head Start’s “Sharing Tree Fund” that helps community families in need with food and gifts during the holiday season.
