MMIW Honored

Colorado State Patrol officers attended the Human Trafficking training that was held at the Southern Ute Museum on Thursday, Jan. 16. Many tribal departments and community members showed up to learn about how to identify and prevent human trafficking here on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation.

Human trafficking hits close to home

In collaboration with the SunUte Community Center, the Voices of Our Sisters group and SASO Sexual Assault Services Organization the Sing Our Rivers Red Earring Exhibit is currently housed in the hallway of the community center. The exhibit is a representation of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), it’s a way for families, friends and supporters to remember each of these women. By placing an earring on the exhibit, you are raising awareness and honoring MMIW across Indian Country. The exhibit will be taken down and returned to SASO on Saturday, Feb. 1.
