The purpose of this article is to provide an update on the recently completed park lighting installation at Piinu Nuuchi Park (aka SunUte Park), in Ignacio.
The Construction and Project Management team worked in collaboration with Morgann Graham at the SunUte Community Center to install 16 new solar-powered light poles around the park. The installation was substantially completed on Jan. 3, making the park a safer place for the public. We would like to thank the membership, staff and park users for your patience and cooperation as the project was completed and various areas of the park were temporarily closed. A special thanks to the Properties and Facilities Department, the Contracts and Grants team, and the Southern Ute Utilities Divisions, who contributed meaningful efforts to this project.
We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the locations of the 16 light poles for those that have not been to the park recently:
- Three lights are located around the skatepark.
- Two lights are adjacent to the basketball court.
- Three lights illuminating the kids play-area and surrounding walkway.
- Six additional lights illuminating the walkway around the open grassy field.
- Two lights are located along the walkway connecting the SunUte Community Center to the park.
