Southern Ute tribal members Elliott, DJ, and Nate Hendren (right to left), welcome viewers during the screening event for their film “A Place to Explore” on Tuesday, April 23 at the Ignacio High School Auditorium. During the summer of last year, the brothers participated in a film making workshop hosted by the Southern Ute Education Department, State of Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media and the Gates Family Foundation. Their film brings focus to their community, featuring the Tribe’s skate park in Ignacio.
Friends, family, and locals gathered inside the Ignacio High School Auditorium for the screening of “A Place to Explore,” a short film created by brothers Nate, Elliott, and DJ Hendren on Tuesday, April 23. The event also doubled as a fundraiser for the Tribal Business Exploration Program as the group raised funds for their upcoming trip to Oceanside, Calif. in June.
