On Tuesday, March 26 the Southern Ute Drum staff traveled to Phoenix, Ariz. to tour the Arizona Republic facility.
Arizona Republic staff view freshly printed newspapers, the employees pay close attention to the quality of print actively adjusting press settings as the papers move along the press.
The Southern Ute Drum staff stand in front of multiple presses during their visit to the Arizona Republic facility, owned and operated by Gannett Co., this facility publishes the Southern Ute Drum newspaper which is printed bi-weekly.
Metal plates are created to illustrate the printing process for The Southern Ute Drum staff during their visit to the Arizona Republic press, pages are transferred to plate via a Computer To Plate (CTP) image processing machine onto a thin metal plate by laser. These individual plates are then used within the press to print the newspaper.
