This year, the Cultural Preservation department asked Southern Ute tribal elder and Veteran, Jack Frost Jr., to say the invocation before the meal was to be served.
Southern Ute Tribal Chairman, Melvin J. Baker greeted guests and thanked them for being there to share the meal with friends and family.
Southern Ute Tribal Royalty’s Miss Southern Ute, Autumn Sage, welcomed everyone to this year’s Thanksgiving dinner.
Tribal elders and tribal members from each Ute tribe lined up to get food that was cooked and served by the Sky Ute Casino staff.

Sister tribes break bread for Thanksgiving

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe hosts a Thanksgiving Tribal Dinner annually that is open to Southern Ute, Ute Mountain and Ute Indian tribal members the weekend before Thanksgiving Day. The Sky Ute Casino Resort holds it in the Event Center where the Casino staff prepare, cook and serve the food each year. The Southern Ute Tribal Council, along with dignitaries from the Ute sister tribes, welcome everyone and thank them for attending. The annual event offers an opportunity to spend time with friends and family.
