The Casias Newton Justice Center, which was recently renamed, now has the written name added above the front entrance of the building. The text, applied on glass, was finalized on Thursday, Aug. 4. The new name recognizes two of the Tribe’s most prominent judges, whose careers helped shape the Tribal Court; former Tribal Chairman and Chief Judge, Pearl Casias and the late Chief Judge Elaine Newton. Both women were recognized for their years of service on the bench in a ceremony during Law Enforcement Week, a formal dedication for the Justice Center will take place at a future date.
