Assessment of damages will be complete once the fallen tree is removed.
Severe winds on Friday evening, July 27, took down a large section of cottonwood in the center of Ouray Cemetary, toppling the Chief Ouray monument.
Professional arborists are schedule to mitigate the damage and remove the remainder of the aging cottonwood tree on Friday, Aug. 3.
The long section of downed cottonwood can be seen stretching across the cemetery to the north.
