A mountain lion with its prey is now among the other animals native to the Southern Ute region mounted in the Leonard C. Burch Building. The mount in the north lobby was returned to the tribe after a person from Arizona illegally poached it on tribal land. The Arizona Division of Wildlife retrieved the mounted lion from the poacher and Tribal Rangers traveled to Arizona to pick it up. It is estimated that the poacher spent around $10,000 mounting the lion before it was confiscated.
