Terry Knight and George Wells retire, leaving a legacy of service to UMU Tribe


Terry Knight and George Wells were recognized for their extensive and noteworthy years of service to the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe on Tuesday, Feb. 4.  

Knight, who has served as the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) Director, has dedicated an impressive 32 years to preserving and promoting our cultural heritage. His commitment to safeguarding our history and traditions has had a lasting impact on our community. 

George Wells has made significant contributions as the Brunot and Wildlife Director, serving for an extraordinary 42 years. His expertise in wildlife management and conservation has been crucial in fostering sustainable practices and ensuring the responsible stewardship of our natural resources. 

Both individuals exemplify dedication and professionalism, and their contributions have fundamentally enriched the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. We extend our sincere gratitude for their years of service and unwavering commitment.
