Boy, is it hot out! Staying hydrated during hot weather is one way to keep yourself from being overheated and staying healthy.
Wondering what you can prepare for the whole family? Try these simple recipes to give you some flavor as you quench your thirst. Use these as a guide and create your own refreshing beverage. These have no added sugar, only the sweetness of summer produce.
REMEMBER: If you become thirsty, you are likely already dehydrated. Keep a water bottle with you at all times during the summer and take a drink often.
Cucumber-mint sparkling water
Mix together and serve chilled over ice:
- 6 cups sparkling water (can also use tap water)
- 1 cucumber sliced
- 1 lemon sliced
- 1 handful fresh mint leaves
Makes 6, 8 oz servings
Watermelon-lime fizzle
Mix together and serve over ice:
- 2 cups juice of a watermelon
- 1 cup cubed watermelon
- 8 cups seltzer (half gallon)
- Juice of 2 large limes
Makes 6, 12 oz servings
