Councilwoman Marjorie Barry receives the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) Community Champion award at the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration’s annual Community Conversation forum, Tuesday, June 25 in Mancos, Colo. The award was presented to her by Behavioral Health Administration Commissioner Dannette R. Smith. Barry was nominated for the award based on her presence at Behavioral Health events and the role she takes in helping to reduce stigma around substance use and mental health disorders in the community.
Nionna Phillips with the Montezuma County Public Health Dept. also receives a Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) Community Champion award at the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration’s annual Community Conversation forum, Tuesday, June 25 in Mancos, Colo.
Behavioral Health also wanted to learn about the BHASOs and how that will work and to hear from community partners on the work they are doing.
The SUHC’s Behavioral Health team, pictured left to right, Tamara D. Turner, Suicide & Substance Use Prevention Coordinator, Robin Chavez, Certified Addiction Specialist, Rebecca Colyer-Gale, Behavioral Health Manager, attended the Community Conversation forum not only to support Councilwoman Barry, but also to make sure that their collective voice was heard in regards to the challenges of working in the Four Corners area with limited resources and working as a Tribal entity.
