My name is Frank Garcia, and I have been nominated for Southern Ute Tribal Student of the Season for spring 2025. I have been nominated by Southern Ute Education Department teacher Denise Krispin. I attend Ignacio Elementary School where I am a first grader, my parents are Windy Rock and Jesse Garcia.

I enjoy playing outside at school with my friends at school and my favorite subjects are music and math. I enjoy learning new things. My positive role model in school is Ms. Sullivan, because she makes learning fun. When I grow up, I would like to be a teacher like Ms. Sullivan!

Southern Ute Education Department teacher Denise Krispin said, “I am happy to nominate Frank Garcia as our Southern Ute Student of the Season. He is a kindhearted, thoughtful first grader who works hard in his classroom at IES and within the Southern Ute Education after-school tutoring program.”

Krispin said. “Frank is an enthusiastic learner who enjoys reading, math, and writing, which makes him a joy to teach. Frank has made great growth this year in his academics, and he is also a responsible, supportive friend to his classmates. Frank’s cheerful smile and enthusiasm is contagious! Congratulations and keep up the wonderful work Frank.”

Ignacio Elementary teacher Ms. Sullivan wrote, “I would like to commend Frank’s family for raising such a wonderful young man. He is respectable towards everyone he encounters; whether it be the teaching staff or his peers, he treats everyone with respect. Frank completes all his assignments and somehow still has enough time to help other students finish their work as well. Not only does he excel in the classroom, but he also has great intrapersonal skills. I’ve witnessed how self-motivated and self-disciplined he is with his work. He overall radiates with positivity. Frank always comes to school with a huge smile on his face and with a great attitude to learn. It was truly a pleasure working with him all year.”

Frank’s family shared their pride for their student and his recent nomination for the Southern Ute Student of the Season, “My son is a very positive person, he is always there to help his older sister and I. Frank helps out when his sister is struggling, either with her homework or her feelings, and if anyone else is feeling down he will stop and listen, doing his best to help that person feel better. Frank has a very caring attitude; he is really one of a kind. Our son is a very strong-willed young man; I am extremely proud of my son Frank.”
