Ignacio opens it’s doors to new High School

School Board President, Toby Roderick cuts the ribbon officially opening the high school to the public on Saturday, Aug. 15. The new school boasted many compliments from Superintendent Rocco Fuschetto, Tribal Council, past and present school board members, and the public.
Southern Ute Tribal Council Vice Chairwoman Ramona Y. Eagle gave a speech directed towards the students whom will be using the new facility and encouraged the youth to do their best in school.
Community members get a glimpse of what the new school has to offer.
One new facility is the Performing Arts Center, which includes a new band facility and an auditorium with one of the highest quality acoustics in the area.
Councilman Alex S. Cloud speaks on behalf of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. Cloud gave thanks to the Ignacio School District and those involved in the development and construction of the new school.

Many gathered to witness the opening of the Bobcat’s new stomping grounds Saturday, Aug. 15. Community members were given the chance to tour the facility before school starts Monday, Sept. 24. During the year and a half construction phase, high school students were relocated to the old Ignacio Elementary School. The new school features old pieces from the previous high school and junior high.
