The Southern Ute Cultural Center & Museum and Marias Bookshop hosted an author event and book signing in honor of Pearl E. Casias – former Chairwoman and Chief Judge for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe – on Thursday, June 18, at the museum’s large classroom. Casias took time to discuss her recently published memoir titled “Red Woman; My Southern Ute Journey From Poverty to Wall Street” in front of a packed room, with guests traveling from the Four Corners area and beyond to attend this exclusive event. Author, Pearl Casias took time to discuss stories highlighted in the memoir, sharing stories of her childhood as a student at the Ute Vocational School to stepping into her role as Chief Judge. Following her discussion, the audience engaged in a q&a session and a book signing to finish.
Author, Pearl E. Author, Pearl Casias sold out her available copies of her memoir at the event. Later on in the evening Casias met one on one with her readers, wrote brief and heartfelt messages, and signed hard copies during the author event.
Guests take turns asking questions and sharing kind remarks during the Q&A session at the Pearl Casias author event, diving deeper into the stories shared by Casias within the memoir. Southern Ute tribal member, Renee Tree, shared her gratitude to Casias for her leadership and impact on the community over the years.

Attendees of the author event had the opportunity to purchase hard copies of “Red Woman; My Southern Ute Journey From Poverty to Wall Street”, the audience read along with Casias as the author shared details of her story during the event.
