Krista Red, Casino HR Director, has been selected to intern under Charley Flagg, General Manager, with the goal of becoming the Casino’s General Manager. Her internship began on March 1, 2016 and she will undergo extensive training in all aspects of managing a casino.

We thought it would be great to let Krista introduce herself and tell you a bit about her background. So, here she is!

I am excited to have accepted the position for the General Manager Internship. I will be working closely with Charley for a few years to gain the experience and knowledge I will need. I am proud to be part of the Casino staff — and I am honored to have the opportunity to work with all of you to continue making the Casino property a successful place to work and play.

I was born and raised in Ignacio, Colo. I am a member of the Southern Ute Tribe: my father is the late Bryce Red and my mother is Rosemary Aiken. I have a brother, Adam Red, and two delightful nieces. I am the proud mother of four wonderful children and everything I do is for my kids: Jasmine, Destaney, Harmony and Miguel. I have been blessed with the most adorable and loving grandchildren: Ivan and Ezra. As a family we have sacrificed a lot in order to allow me to pursue my career. I am grateful for the support of my family!

I graduated from Ignacio High School in 1996. I worked as a cosmetologist while I continued my education at Fort Lewis College. I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and Business Administration. After college I went to work at the Growth Fund as an accountant while I pursued my Master’s degree in Business Administration. This is when I decided to dedicate myself to helping people and our community. I started working for the Casino in 2010 as the CDP Manager. In a short amount of time I found myself interested in the Director of Human Resources position where I am currently employed doing the job I love. I am excited and nervous about the challenge I have accepted but through all this I feel blessed.

I have big shoes to fill and I plan on filling those shoes successfully. I will do my best to fulfill both the requirements and expectations that go with this position!
