Obituary: Leroy “Buck” Weaver

Weaver Leroy “Buck” Weaver passed away on January 6, 2016 from a long illness.

He was born in Ignacio, CO to William “Bill” Weaver and Myrtle Norris Weaver. He worked for the Southern Ute Tribe most of his life. He worked on the fencing crew constructing boundary fences, worked a firefighter, and in the maintenance department as a wood hauler/truck-driver.

Leroy was known by many names. When he was small his father called him Charlie, he later became known as Buck, and he called himself “The Handsome Man”.

Leroy’s hobbies included riding his 4-wheeler around the farm and he loved his German shepherd “Lady”. He had a humorous side; always laughing, joking and smiling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Clifford, Howard, Teddy & Clarence; two sisters Loretta & Baby Sister. Leroy is survived by his brothers Arthur (Sylvia) and Wilford Sr. (Mary); many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He had a special relationship with his nieces Savanna (Chris G.) & Valerie (Angelo), and his great-great nephew Nathaniel.

A Recitation of the Rosary was held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Ignacio, CO on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 and a Funeral Service was held at St. Ignatius on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, a dinner will follow at Andary Hall in Ignacio.
