On Wednesday, March 2 the Southern Ute Indian Montessori Academy celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday with delightful laughs and joy. Academy students read various stories by the beloved author while dressing up as some of his most iconic characters. The Cat in the Hat (Jake Ryder) and Thing 1 (Terena Hight) hand out pencils to Academy students. This photo was published in the March 4, 2016, issue of the Southern Ute Drum. 
These aspiring young cheerleaders performed during halftime at the Ignacio/Bayfield game in Ignacio on Feb. 17, 2006. Led by our own Ignacio Cheerleaders, the girls performed two cheers to the delight of the crowd in attendance for Ignacio’s last home game of the 2006 season. Ayla Olguin was crowned queen of the Valentine Penny Drive held at Ignacio Elementary School. The school raised $5,403.16 for a special book fund. Their goal is $10,000.
