10 Years Ago: Ronnie Baker, Commander of the Southern Ute Veterans Association, and Rod Grove, Veterans Service Officer, present a check to Bill Morris, Commander of Durango Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4031, for the donation of a flag pole from the Southern Ute Veterans Association and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. The donation came in response to an article in the Durango Herald, asking for donations to the Durango Veterans’ Memorial. A formal dedication of the memorial will take place on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, 2008 beginning at 11 AM at the Greenmount Cemetery in Durango, Colorado, followed by an Open House at the Durango VFW.
