STEVEN CRAIG MONTE

Steven Craig Monte passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, at Park Forest Care Center in Westminster due to complications of lung cancer. He was 58 years old.

Steven was born July 10, 1959, to John Monte and Effie Red Monte in Durango, Colorado. He grew up in and graduated High School in Ignacio. He lived in Ignacio, Durango, Pueblo, and Denver.

He enjoyed going to the movies, gambling in Central City, eating out with his friends and family.

He is survived by his mother: Effie Red Monte of Ignacio; Siblings: Victoria (Johnathan) Gill of Albuquerque, NM, Sherry Salazar of Ignacio, Victor C. (Stephanie) Monte of Ignacio, and Drake J. (Delaina) Monte of Tucson, AZ; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father: John Monte; Paternal Grandparents: William and Ruth Monte; Maternal Grandparents: Bird and Nana Red; Brothers: William John Monte and Norton Monte.

Visitation will be held at Hood Mortuary on Tues., Feb. 6, 2018 at noon. A rosary will be held on Tues. (2/6) at 6:00pm at the Southern Ute Memorial Chapel, a Wake to follow. A Mass will be held on Wed., Feb. 7, 2018 at 10:00am, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, burial will follow at Ouray Memorial Cemetery.
