Tribe honors Casias, West for service
Southern Ute Vice Chairman, Marvin Pinnecoose and Tribal Council were honored to join Natelle Thompson and her family as she was officially sworn in as Tribal Court Associate Judge, Tuesday, March 24, during the Regular Meeting. The oath of office was administered by Chief Judge Scott Moore.
Thompson was presented with a blanket by former Tribal Chairman and Judge Pearl Casias, alongside retired Federal Magistrate David West, in recognition of this special achievement. Tribal Council also recognized the distinguished and lasting service of Judge Casias, whose leadership and dedication to justice continue to uplift and strengthen Tribal Court, with a blanket presentation.
Tribal Council acknowledged the importance of honoring the matriarchal role of women and celebrated the significance of having a tribal member serve in Tribal Court, reaffirming the Tribe’s values, traditions and sovereignty.
Magistrate West was also honored with a blanket for his service to the Judicial Review Work Group. West has been instrumental in the development and establishment of the Judicial Review Work Group, and his knowledge, expertise and steady guidance have been invaluable as the group evaluates Tribal Court judges on performance standards, integrity and ethics.
We proudly honor and celebrate Natelle Thompson’s appointment as Associate Judge, celebrating her commitment to justice, leadership and service.
