SUGF Properties announces Mulvany as president

Morrissey retires, leaving strong legacy at GF

GF Properties Group, a company owned and operated by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe’s Growth Fund, announces the retirement of Patrick Morrissey as President/COO and company’s new leadership under Brian Mulvany. GF Properties is a leading real estate firm, managing a diverse portfolio across 15 states, encompassing 37 assets, including multifamily industrial, land development, and other property types. Known for its strategic expertise in planning, developing, and asset management, the company excels in acquiring income-producing properties and optimizing returns, continually growing its portfolio.

Under the leadership of Morrissey, GF Properties has increased the market value of the real estate portfolio by 102%, doubling the company’s worth.

Morrissey began his career with the Growth Fund in 2007, becoming President/COO in January 2018. “I am deeply honored by the trust and opportunity given to me by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe to lead GF Properties for the last six years. This journey has been such an incredible experience. As I pass the leadership to Brian, I am confident in the company’s continued success,” Morrissey said.

“The Growth Fund is incredibly grateful for Mr. Morrissey’s visionary leadership, under which GF Properties has achieved remarkable growth,” said Shane Seibel, Executive Director for the Growth Fund. “We are thrilled to embark on the new chapter with Brian Mulvany at the helm, confident that under his guidance, GF Properties will not only uphold its legacy of success but explore new horizons and opportunities in the real estate sector.”

The Growth Fund recently selected Mulvany as the new President/COO. Mulvany has dedicated 12 years to GF Properties and the Growth Fund, working his way up from Assistant Asset Manager/Financial Analysis to Senior Vice President. Throughout his employment, Mulvany has successfully negotiated multiple acquisitions in various markets, expanding the portfolio’s geographic footprint and market value.

Mulvany brings 12 years of real estate investment experience and received his MS (Real Estate and Construction Management) and MBA from the University of Denver and a BA (Environmental Studies) from the University of Colorado. In his downtime, he enjoys playing golf and retreating to the mountains to enjoy skiing/snowboarding, hiking, and mountain biking. His office will remain in Denver where he resides with his wife, Sandra, and son Aiden (14).

“I am honored to be selected as the next President and COO of GF Properties Group and I truly appreciate the support of the Growth Fund Management team and Patrick Morrissey,” Mulvany said. “I look forward to leading the team in this new role as we continue to strive to maximize benefits to the Tribe for many years to come.”

Southern Ute Indian Tribe

The Ute people are the oldest continuous residents of what is today the state of Colorado. Historically a loose confederation of ten bands, the Mouache and Caputa bands make up the present-day Southern Ute Indian Tribe. In the 1950s, natural gas was discovered on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation.

Nominal royalty payments collected from the 1950s through the 1980s did little to support tribal members. In the 1980s, in pursuit of economic and cultural self-determination, the Tribe created its own gas production company. From that initial investment, the Tribe has grown and diversified its holdings across multiple industries. Today, the Tribe is the largest employer in La Plata County. The Tribe maintains a Triple A credit rating and oversees a thriving investment portfolio with assets in 14 states and the Gulf of Mexico.

Southern Ute Indian Tribe Growth Fund

Established in the late 1990s and headquartered within the Southern Ute Indian Reservation in Southwestern Colorado, the Southern Ute Growth Fund manages the business investments of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. The Growth Fund holds the Tribe’s diverse array of operating businesses and investment entities engaged in on- and off-reservation oil and gas exploration, production and gathering, carbon-neutral energy infrastructure and innovation, commercial and multifamily real estate acquisition, and development, private equity fund of funds, and direct private equity investments.
