Seen establishing rebounding position against Peyton’s Jaycee Yonkers (5) during 2A-Region VIII action at PHS, Ignacio’s Avaleena Nanaeto (35) earned post-season props recently, as she was one of 15 Class 2A seniors chosen for the 2022 Colorado Coaches of Girls’ Sports All-State Games.  Held Sunday, March 27, in Aurora at Grandview High School (the Lady Wolves won this season’s 5A State Championship), the 2A feature was the second of five contests played, with Nanaeto and 2A-Blue defeating 2A-Red 48-42 after leading 20-17 at halftime.  Nanaeto’s fellow Blues – coached by Cedaredge’s Russell Coleman and Kevin Dunbar – included Sargent’s Gabby Jones and Mary Willis, Rye’s Sydney and Sophie Adamson, Holyoke’s Lauren Herman (who helped the Lady Dragons go 25-1 and win the 2A title), Cedaredge’s Paige McGovern and Meeker’s Sarah Kracht.  CCGS’ Games were not held in ’21 due to pandemic-related concerns; IHS then-senior Jayden Brunson had been selected for that 2A showcase.
