Ignacio’s Dustin Sanchez (24) shows off a recovered Crownpoint, N.M., fumble during the second quarter of the Bobcats’ Sept. 1 non-conference win at IHS Field. All told, Ignacio’s defense came up with two fumble recoveries, one interception and forced four turnovers-on-downs in the 13-6 victory—an effort surely to be desired again by the coaching staff with 2A Montezuma-Cortez in town for the Sept.15 Homecoming Week game, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
Ignacio quarterback Trace Lovelace (11) receives a pep talk from fellow QB Isaiah Jacket prior to the second half of the Bobcats’ Sept. 1 win over 3A Crownpoint, N.M. Inactive for the game, Jacket and a couple others could be back in action for the upcoming 9/15 (7:00 p.m. kickoff) Homecoming Week game versus 2A Montezuma-Cortez. Lovelace, meanwhile, clinched the 13-6 win over the Eagles with a 27-yard keeper (he also kicked the extra point) and only 2:30 remaining.
Ignacio’s Mike Archuleta (23) catches his breath after his game-altering, 43-yard interception-return TD early in the fourth quarter of the Bobcats’ non-conference win Sept. 1 at IHS Field over 3A Crownpoint, N.M. Takeaways and points gained from them could be key in Ignacio’s Homecoming Week game, 9/15 (7:00 p.m. kickoff) versus 2A Montezuma-Cortez.
