BGC hosts first annual softball tournament

The winner of the Homerun Derby, Tyler Young with BGC youth and August Burch, BGC Program Specialist. Young received a backpack and a bat of his choice for winning.
BGC Staff prized McKean Walton with the first ever BGC bat. Walton was thanked for all his help in putting on the first annual BGC softball tournament.
Tribal member, Tim Ryder with ‘Ute Nation’, ducks as Fidel Velasquez, with ‘Non-Typicals’, tries to get him out. ‘Ute Nation’ ended up taking 4th in the tournament.
‘Los Vatos’ out of Durango, Colo. took home first place after beating ‘UNC’ in the championship game.
Tribal member Orion Watts aims for the fence. Watts ended up placing second in the homerun derby in a sudden death face off with the first-place winner Tyler Young.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe held its first annual softball tournament on Saturday, July 25. Seven teams fought for the coveted first place prize and at the end of the long day only two remained to battle it out. ‘Los Vatos’ of Durango won the one-day tourney.
