Ignacio youth score at Elks Hoop Shoot

Southern Ute Tribal Members, Bird Red and Monica Lucero were both participants in the competitive Elks Hoop Shoot tournament held at Durango’s Fort Lewis College on Sunday, Jan. 25. The competition involved a number of modest youth athletes competing for the top prize in basketball free-throws. Participants from across western Colorado were in attendance, including players from Durango, Cortez, Montrose, Hotchkiss, Delta, and Ignacio respectively. Lucero placed second in the Girls 10-11 category, while Ryder was barely nudged out of the top three. Both players were awarded for their participation.
