Memorial service for Chairman Newton to take place April 4

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe announced on Wednesday, April 2 plans for a memorial service for Chairman Jimmy R. Newton Jr., who died March 31.

A service will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 4 at the Sky Ute Casino Resort’s Events Center at 14324 U.S. Highway 172 North in Ignacio. Interment will take place at Ouray Memorial Cemetery immediately following the service.

A luncheon will then follow at the casino. All events are open to the public.
