The Ignacio Community Library is inviting community members to take part in an exciting lineup of programs this May, offering opportunities to learn new skills, explore the world, and connect with others.

Kicking things off on May 6 at 4:30 p.m., the library will host a hands-on cooking program where participants can learn how to make French toast. Just in time for Mother’s Day, this class is perfect for anyone looking to create a thoughtful homemade treat or simply brush up on their kitchen skills.

Later in the month, the library will take patrons on a unique journey without ever leaving town. On May 26 at 4 p.m., the Virtual Reality Travel program will transport participants to Greece. Using Quest Pro VR headsets, attendees can immerse themselves in Greek culture, take in scenic landscapes, and even enjoy elements of authentic cuisine. Advance registration is encouraged by calling 970-563-9287. A waitlist will be available for those interested in future sessions.

For those looking for a more interactive VR experience, the library also offers Beat Saber sessions, where participants can try their hand at the popular virtual reality rhythm game. This month will be on May 29 at 11 a.m. The program is open to all experience levels, with gameplay adjusted to match the group’s comfort. Adults are the primary audience, though teens ages 13 and older may participate with a signed waiver and adult permission. Participants are encouraged to reserve a spot in advance, though drop-ins are welcome as space allows.

In addition to these special events, the library continues to offer a wide range of recurring programs that serve all ages and interests. From the ever-popular preschool Storytime to a compassionate Grief Support Group, there are regular opportunities for learning, connection, and support throughout the month.
