On Monday, Feb. 23, SUIMA students participated in a Jiu Jitsu class. Upper Elementary students (Pictured L to R): Destiny Valdez, Jayceon Richards, Lucas Rael, Lawrence Santistevan Jr. and Ethan Rohde O’Leary practice falling, to make sure that they do not injure themselves as they learn Jiu Jitsu.
SUIMA students Lilah Olguin and December Santistevan practice how to defend themselves at SunUte Community Center. Teacher, Forrest Allen and Intern, Tobi Cook work with Elevated Martial Arts, who partnered with SUIMA to provide a 12 weeklong class that helps the students learn how to protect themselves, look out for others and stand up to bullying.
