Southern Ute tribal member, Cassandra Atencio shared a variety of Ute oral stories passed down from her family on Wednesday, Dec. 17 during the Ute Storytelling event at SunUte Community Center.
Little Miss Southern Ute, Starlitt Greany, greets listeners at the Ute Storytelling event at SunUte Community Center. Storytelling is culturally significant to the Ute people and other Indigenous peoples during the winter months, this lunchtime event hosted by the Cultural Preservation Department featured both personal and culturally significant stories.
Tribal members, tribal employees, and community members gathered to hear Ute cultural stories on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at SunUte Community Center. Listeners heard stories from the Southern Ute Brave, Theoden Greany and his journey on the powwow trail this year.
