Veterans rally through Rez on annual bike run

Chairman Melvin Baker exchanged handshakes with members of the Veterans Association out of Durango, Colo. The annual Durango Veterans Poker Run started in Durango before arriving at the Southern Ute Veterans Memorial Park in Ignacio for a picnic lunch, provided by Dome Sage, Friday, Aug. 29. Riders were scheduled to finish up their event at VFW Post 4031 back in town.
Riders got a chance to see Dome Sage in his element, playing cool music and working the sound for the annual event.
Welcomed participants lined up, ready to enjoy a good meal with great tunes and laughter.
Southern Ute Veterans Association Commander, Howard Richards Sr., Bruce Valdez and Raymond Baker received keepsakes from their fellow veterans.
This year’s group of motorcycle riders took time out from the annual event to pose for the annual group picture in the Southern Ute Veterans Memorial Park in Ignacio.
During a moment of reflection, sitting down and enjoying the day, Robert Jack and Norman Lansing share stories of past rides.

Bikers rallied, kick stands up at 10 am, Friday, Aug. 29, on a rainy overcast day in the Four Corners. The full day ride started in Durango, Colo. before arriving at the Southern Ute Veterans Memorial Park in Ignacio for the annual Durango Veterans Poker Run, aptly named “Remembering All.” Riders were scheduled to finish up their event at VFW Post 4031 back in Durango. Attendees in Ignacio received hotdogs, chips, drinks, and watermelon all donated by Dome Sage, while listening to welcoming remarks from Tribal Council and the Southern Ute Veterans Association recognizing the sacrifices made by all veterans past and present.
