Good day Southern Ute tribal membership and staff, the Southern Ute Tribal Housing, Construction & Project Management Team, in conjunction with Properties and Facilities, is pleased to announce the start of construction activities for the Annex Rehabilitation Project.  

This historical building continues to serve the tribal community as office space for multiple departments. Much needed updates and maintenance will be made to improve and prolong the utility of this building and make access easier and safer for all users. 

Construction work will start immediately in early July and continue until the end of September. The most significant and visible work will be renovation of the front entry area. Our contractor will be removing and replacing the steep concrete entry stairs and the dangerously deteriorated sidewalks. A new roof will be built to cover the access ramp from rain, snow and icefall from above, making access easier and safer for those who need or prefer the ramp, and new handrails will be installed. The historic brickwork around the entry area will be carefully repaired and cleaned. Inside the building, we’ll be remodeling the bathrooms: adding much needed ventilation, new wall coverings, floor tile and cabinetry and adding wheelchair-accessible bathroom stalls. New blinds will be installed throughout the building to assist with temperature control and minimize heating and cooling costs. 

During construction, several areas in and around the building will be closed for the safety of all, but office spaces will continue to function normally, and no relocation of tribal staff or membership services will be required. Signage will be posted onsite to notify users of alternate building access routes and closures. 

From approximately July 14 to August 1, the front entrance will be entirely closed for construction activities. During this time access to the building, along with front desk personnel, will be moved to the southwest rear entrance. Visitor parking will be temporarily relocated to the gravel lot immediately west of the building. Signage will be posted for elder parking (2 stalls) and visitor parking (4 stalls).  

We ask that office occupants and visitors to the Annex please be patient with the construction teams, respect all closures and follow all alternate routes. The attached map shows the areas and approximate dates of construction activities, closures, and alternate routes.
