E.L.K.S provides free hands-on and interactive activities to teach youth about science and increase environmental awareness.
E.L.K.S paid a visit to the Southern Ute Bison Pasture on Wednesday, June 11 to view the animals and gain an understanding of their importance to the community and the animals' role in the environment. Bison Herd Manager, Ian Doughty, gives a tour of the pasture and answers any questions the youth may have.
This year, E.L.K.S programming split into two age groups, session one is grades 3-5 and their programming took place on Tuesday, June 10 & Wednesday, June 11. Left to right; Ammonie Johnson, Keagan Black, Kenzie Newell, Losita Alires, and Dean Stokes. Environmental Protections Department staff served as program guides for E.L.K.S. Behind the youth are Lori Niewold, EPD Grants Coordinator, and Angelina Miller, EPD Air Quality Scientist II.
