The Ignacio Community Library is in the preliminary stages of creating a strategic plan for the future – for both the library as a whole and specifically for the IdeaLab, our makerspace and education center. The most important aspect of this process is gathering feedback and getting residents involved in helping the staff create a store of services and opportunities to keep our library in a position to help our community thrive. It is not about what our library has provided in the past, it is about how we plan for the future. We want to know what has been working for you and how we could make your library even more useful and relevant.
The staff at ICL is dedicated to public service and is committed to providing the greatest good in a fiscally responsible manner. We are grateful for the support the residents of the library district provide and will continue to work hard to find additional resources and grant funds to bring the greatest benefit to our community with a minimal use of resources. We are also supported by our Friends of the Library group. Their hard work provides us with equipment and program funding through their bookstore and fundraising efforts. This volunteer group can also use additional help with all parts of their organization. All these actions help us bring a wide variety of programming to the community with no fees to the patrons.
Employing resources effectively is both a science and an art. The pace of technological advancement and change makes this especially challenging. Strategic planning can be a useful tool in this goal. But we cannot do it without you. The Ignacio Library is a hub of productive and creative work and play. Our community of consumers and contributors is rapidly expanding in many exciting and positive ways. If you are interested in adding your talents to this vision, please contact the library and discuss what you have to offer. Please join our efforts to refine and improve upon our mission to be a positive center of growth in any way you can.
