We are thrilled to share a delightful lineup of special events this month! Join us for the Spoken Word Poetry Event with Mr. Burt Baldwin on Thursday, May 1, at 5 p.m. You will not want to miss our annual Family Tea Party on Sunday, May 4, where we will embrace the theme of marbles for what promises to be a “marbleous” time! We also have a Chaos Gardening Class on May 12, a fun workshop on Learning to Make Your Own Soft Pretzels on May 13 and more!
Each month brings new programs and events, but our weekly programs and book clubs are always on the lookout for new members. If you enjoy intriguing discussions, consider joining our Mystery Book Club, or dive into imaginative conversations with members of our Science Fiction Book Club, both once a month.
For those who love to craft and create, we have workshops where you can let your creativity shine! Work with our Sewing Workshop every Monday at 1:30 p.m., tap into your artistic side at the Open Art Studio on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m., or come knit with the ICL Knitters Group every Thursday at 1 p.m.
Greg Dotson from La Plata County Veteran Services is here to assist you during dedicated office hours each first Wednesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 2p.m. Don’t forget about our free legal clinic with volunteer attorneys, available online on the third Tuesday of each month from 4 to 5:40 p.m. Be sure to RSVP by calling 970-563-9287. If you are looking for emotional support, our Grief Support Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m., led by Sara Barnes, LPC, from Hospice of Mercy – no regular commitment is needed; just come when you need!
We have plenty of fun activities for our younger patrons! Bring your little ones to Storytime on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for engaging songs, crafts, and stories. On the first Thursday of each month at 4:30 p.m., get ready for hands-on excitement with Silly Science. Middle and high school students are invited to hang out at the Teen Café every Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. for snacks, homework help, and enjoyable activities. Be sure to mark your calendars for our action-packed monthly Teen Night on May 19, featuring thrilling themes and delicious food!
And do not forget to check out the IDEA LAB – our vibrant space for hands-on learning and skill-building for all ages! Join Mr. Ron, our fantastic IDEA LAB Educator, for a variety of classes in our Makerspace. Every Friday and Saturday this month from 1 to 3 p.m., dive into Model Rocketry. We are also excited to host Glow forge Demonstrations on May 14 from 2 to 5:30 p.m., where you will walk away with some fun laser-created items!
We cannot wait to see you at the library!
