Red Willow Production Company has recently created a Reclamation Technician Trainee Program designed to provide comprehensive training, mentoring, and hands-on experience over a two-year period. The goal is to equip trainees with the skills necessary to support reclamation design and permitting for the plug and abandonment program. This includes developing reclamation plans, conducting soil sampling and analysis, recontouring, and implementing reclamation designs for successful revegetation. Trainees will progress through two levels, each lasting up to one year, where they will learn and understand various processes related to reclamation, health and safety policies, project management, and technical skills such as using AutoCAD or ArcGIS software.
In Level I, trainees will focus on completing safety training, understanding company procedures, and learning the basics of reclamation techniques, plan development and implementation. They will also attend industry seminars and conferences, manage project status updates, and perform post-project monitoring inspections. Level II builds on this foundation by introducing more advanced topics such as best available technologies for seeding and reclamation, budget generation, invoice review, and developing surface recontouring maps. Trainees will assist in preparing reclamation plans, monitoring projects, and adapting to shifting priorities and timelines.
To qualify for the program, candidates must have a degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Geography, or a related field, along with relevant experience. Strong computer skills, the ability to follow directions, troubleshoot issues, and communicate effectively are essential. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 20 pounds, wear protective equipment, and work in various environments, including high noise and temperature areas.
